Lee E. Smith

Vice President, Canada Operations


Lee joined Meritage as Vice President in 2016 and is responsible for the Canadian Operations team. Previously, as Senior Operations Manager at Pembina Pipelines, Lee was responsible for Eastern operations that included a 1.3 Bcf/d cryogenic ethane extraction and fractionation plant, a 6-million-barrel cavern storage facility and several NGL truck and rail terminals with budgets totaling about $60 million annually. He was also responsible for numerous non-operated joint venture facilities including straddle plants, fractionation plants and pipelines.

Before joining Pembina, Lee was Plant Superintendent at facilities with Provident, EnCana, PanCanadian Petroleum and Wolcott. His career spans some 30 years in the design, construction, staffing and commissioning of processing plants in Western Canada. Lee is a power engineer who has spent many years building successful teams through employee engagement and empowerment.
