Steve provides Meritage with strategic direction and positive leadership that facilitates each team member’s abilities to achieve the company's goals. Steve has more than 30 years of experience in the midstream business, most recently as President of Arista Midstream Services, LLC. Before founding Arista Midstream, Steve served as Vice President of Business Development and General Manager of the Denver office for Momentum Energy Group, LLC. During his tenure at Momentum, Steve was responsible for all business development activities in the Rocky Mountain West for the Yorktown Energy Partners, Bank of America and Lehman Brothers-backed midstream startup. He was instrumental in the acquisition of Kinder Morgan’s Powder River gathering system and for the greenfield development of the Collbran Valley Gas Gathering System joint venture.

  • From 1999 to 2005, Steve was the Vice President of Gathering and Processing at Kinder Morgan, Inc. where he managed a range of projects including Kinder Morgan’s $80 million Wyoming gathering and processing assets; Coyote Gas Treating, LLC, the company’s $40 million joint venture with Enterprise Field Services; KMP’s 49% interest in Red Cedar Gas Gathering, a joint venture with the Southern Ute Indian Tribe; and KMP’s 25% interest in Thunder Creek Gas Services, a joint venture with Devon Energy.
  • From 1997 to 1999, Steve was the President of Tall Pines Energy, Inc. Tall Pines sought production and downstream opportunities in the Rocky Mountain West.
  • From 1995 to 1997, Steve was the co-founder and Executive Vice President of Bear Paw Energy, Inc., a midstream company engaged in gas gathering, processing and treating with assets in Montana and North Dakota. The company was sold to TransMontaigne Oil Company in 1996.
  • Steve was the Manager of Business Development at Snyder Oil Company from 1994 to 1995. There he initiated and managed the development of downstream projects to support the development activities of SOCO’s North American production units. He established a joint venture between SOCO, Cornerstone Natural Gas and KCS Energy to gather, process and market SOCO, Chesapeake Energy and Patterson Oil gas wells in the Grimes County, Texas, Buda-Georgetown play.
  • From 1990 to 1994, Steve served as the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Vessels Oil and Gas, Inc. Vessels Oil and Gas engaged in production and midstream activities within the DJ and Washakie Basins. Steve was responsible for the company’s $85 million downstream activities, including the company’s business development efforts. Steve was instrumental in the development of Vessels’ first asset acquisitions outside the DJ Basin.

Steve began his career in 1981 with various positions in operations and engineering at Oxy Cities Service NGL, Inc. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Oklahoma State University.
